Memorial Day Arrests on Broward County Beaches

Broward County Police Officers blocked three bridges to Fort Lauderdale Beach claims Sun Sentinel in response to fighting; possibly by rival South Florida gangs.

“The message we want to make clear is that if you come with the intent to cause trouble … we’ll take proper action. Local Criminal Defense Attorneys agree that the actions by law enforcement were both swift and effective.

Attorney William Moore, stated that over the last twenty years he has seen these types of situations escalate out of control very quickly. In fact, the city prosecutor’s office had called for a zero tolerance procedure for their officers over a decade ago in areas like Beach Place. It is a shame that this sort of thing keeps happening. It is not good for Broward County’s image. It does not send a welcoming message to tourists or our own residents for that matter.

All in all, there were very few injuries and little property damage. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office and local Fort Lauderdale Police did an excellent job. As part of our law enforcement policy, the actions by our forces will be reviewed thoroughly claims Moore.

Apparently as many as 200 individuals swarmed the beach and immediately began behaving in an almost riot like fashion. “This was the biggest show of force by police I’ve ever seen,” said Drew Umland, 35, a beach resident who was photographing the action. “This was not the crowd who normally frequent the beach. “Police were corralling people off the street in a very aggressive way,” Umland said.

Moore claims that charges such as Disorderly Conduct and Battery are to be expected following such an event. William is an amazing lawyer on the first day he took my case from a felony to a misdemeanor. He always answered my calls and text messages, never a problem. He was always the one in court not sending someone else, unlike my last lawyer. 10/10 would recommend. If I ever have any other problems, he will be the first person I call. Shane B.
